Film and stage beauties # 8: Julie Jenner

Reverse reads:

A series of 54, No. 21, Julie Jenner.
A series of real photographs now being issued with Black Cat Medium Cigarettes. Carreras Ltd (ESTD 1788) Arcadia Works, London, England.

It appears that Julie was more of a stage actress than a screen actress. Entry for Julie Jenner on IBDB, link.

Julie Jenner Stege left the stage to become a US Army Air Corps pilot during WWII. Link to a brief bio of her here. Scroll down to column titled Ex-chorus girl, WWII pilot to tell her story!

This is my grandmother. Were these pictures printed on cigarette cartons or something?

Beloved Julie lived to be 97.5 years old. She died June 22, 2009 (a week ago). Here is a picture from a few years before her death. It's an article about her time as a Women's Air Service Pilot during WWII.

Julie was a beautiful person inside and out--witty, talented, hugely talented tap dancer, and a brave WWII test pilot. Later, a really great Realtor in Chicago area. I knew her in her golden years. She was just WONDERFUL. I was many years younger, but we had fun! I will never, ever forget this inspirational woman. Jean Bartholomew
