Dream Double Bill # 14 'Deep Red' and 'Blow Up'

I just watched 'Profondo Rosso' or 'Deep Red' to give it it's English title and it reminded me a lot of 'Blow Up', a film which I like a lot. A quick scout around the search engines yeilded a few articles that point to Argento essentially remaking or paying homage to the 'Blow Up' story as 'Deep Red'.

The alternative title of this double bill could be David Hemmings Investigates, in a similar vein to David Hemmings Happens, his 1967 album.

Alfred Hitchcock and Bernard Herrmann on the set of 'Vertigo'.

The NFT are running a great season of films where Herrmann worked as composer. In fact looking at the list it looks like an excellent season.
Continuing along the composer theme they will have Ennio Morricone in conversation at the NFT on Friday 21st July at 6.20.

Meanwhile for more Hitchcock interviewed by Francios Truffaut skip on over to 'If Charlie Parker was a Gunslinger...' where part 6 is now up, link.

Film and stage beauties # 1: Marcia

As the Camera Studies series is nearly coming to an end, I'm starting a new cigarette card series. I think the photographs look good posted here and part of the fun for me is finding out about these actors, actresses and films that I'd never heard of.

Reverse reads:

A series of 54, No. 4

A series of real photographs now being issued with Black Cat Medium Cigarettes.
Carreras Ltd (ESTD 1788) Arcadia Works, London, England.

Sadly, IMDB or a quick browse on search engines doesn't yield anything for 'Marcia'.
