Great. Can you give some background info? I recall at the time of the post doing some background searching but couldn't find very much.

I recently purchased a large collection of digitally mastered and restored "Soundies." (We have a very large library; see generally, www.filmsaroundtheworld.com). Unfortunately, there was no master title list, and many Soundies reiussued for the home market had the titles cut off. I am creating a catalog, and just got to a Soundie titled "The Blushing Bride" released 11/9/42 that clearly stars "Jackie Gately" doing a sort of striptease as the bride gets ready for her nuptial bed, removing her wedding gown, etc. At the end she is still wearing her undergarments, but it may have been racy for the day, at least for the intended bar audience. The picture on this site appears to be her. My guess is that she was an English aspiring actress who gave Hollywood a shot, got this one credited role, and came home after the war. Any help would be appreciated.

The picture is indeed of Jackie Gately. However, she is definitely not British; she was from Arkansas. This information I obtained from the book "Low Man on a Totem Pole" by H. Allen Smith (1941). Smith wrote about interviewing her. She had actually won a hog calling contest in Arkansas, and gave Smith a sample of a hog call during the interview. She had been picked as the most attractive girl at the Paradise Restaurant (in New York I suppose). She was about 17 at the time, and had already spent one season dancing in European night clubs, apparently chaperoned by her mother, who was also present during the interview. Until I read that part of the book, I had never heard of her or seen a picture. Smith wrote a lot of books in his career, and seemed to run into all sorts of characters. Hope this answers your query. Gary

I'd love to get in touch with Anonymous. I am into family genealogy, and your grandmother looks like a distant cousin.

Hi, She's my mom. And what Gary said is correct, she was from Arkansas, and her career ended when she married my dad in 1942. Diana, I'd be happy to correspond with you, how may I contact you?
