Seeing as all the magazines, newspapers, websites will conduct a poll of their critics favourite films of 2006 I thought that I might do something similar but poll the film blogging community, those to visit and those who edit film related blogs.
What qualifies?
Any film realeased theatrically or commercially during 2006.
Films shown at film festivals in 2005/04 that then were released in 2006 would qualify.
Please exclude
Re-releases, such as 'L' Armée des ombres' (Army of Shadows) as I'm trying to understand which of the new films that came out are seen as the better ones. Although I fully appreciate that often a re-released film from Jean-Pierre Melville will be a lot better than the mainstream fare.
If you saw a new film at a film festival this year but it hasn't been released yet then please exclude that.
If there are any fellow film bloggers out there willing to help promote this then please email me and I will send you the code so you can put it on your site.
I'll close the survey at 00.00 on 25th December and announce the results shortly thereafter.

Good idea. Finally, someone wants me to actually contribute to an end-of-the-year poll!
Thank you Stanley.
Sam, on that note I received my copy of Sight and Sound yesterday and they have polled a number of critics. Didn't have time to read the article yet.
Ooh really? I live and die by their 10-year Critics Poll... I'll have to check that out!
Sam, it's not their 10 year poll, which as I recall mid year but their year end poll.
Damn... my top ten still looks pathetic. I'm-a hafta power-view some '06 flicks before I post a vote. (Though I suspect that, no matter what I see, Jackass Number Two is still going to end up topping my list.)
Hmmm... just added my two cents to the poll. I only came up with four titles (in no particular order) and feel the need to justify one of my choices: Bon Cop, Bad Cop. I suspect that few people outside of Canada (or, for that matter, outside of Quebec) would appreciate the intensely local humour. And a masterpiece it is not. Yet somehow it still made my list....
Steve, if you've only seen say 5 or 6 decent films then by all means just vote for them.
Kiera: thanks for sharing your thoughts. Don't think 'Bon Cop, Bad Cop' has made it to these shores yet, but will look out for it. We don't get too many Canadian films here. Last one I recall would have been 'The Barbarian Invasions'.
I am not personally a fan of Denys Arcand, with the sole exception of Jésus de Montréal. I think that the last Québecois movie to come out in the UK was C.R.A.Z.Y. (Which I happen to know because Sight and Sound panned it.)
Kiera: I must have completely missed 'C.R.A.Z.Y' not at all familiar to me. I'm not sure about Arcand either.
I wonder how many people are going to wait until the last possible minute to vote in this poll like I am...

Andy: Agreed, there are a couple of interesting releases scheduled just before Christmas here including 'Flags of our Fathers', so it could be worth holding out 'til the end.
